Week 1: Music Success in Nine Weeks
Mama says it's definitely time to move a few steps forward. So, she's taking us on a journey by having us participate in a blogging contest held by Ariel Publicity Cyber PR. It's kind of a getting-your-shit-together boot camp (but fun). We're following the steps outlined in Arial Hyatt's book Music Success In Nine Weeks and blogging about our progress.
Ok, here we go...
The first chapter is all about goal setting: Getting Mentally Prepared. Most successful folks will tell you that they've written out their goals and MSi9W explains that you're 10 time more likely to achieve your goals if written down in some form. Changing your mindset is the task here. As artists, so many of us are so flightly and unfocased, it's no wonder that we get any shit done.
Our task is to write 1) 5 successes each day, at least two being music-related; 2) goals - music, life, etc. Here are this year's goals, Mama!
1) Able to pack Southpaw by September 2010 (Rock club in Brooklyn, 350-500 capacity).
2) Positive reviews of "In Your Mouth" by prominent music Bloggers - March 2010.
3) 100 paid downloads per week - Sept. 2010.
4) Create and sell more merch.
5) Release new material once a month.
6) Find the right bass player (a recent development... :/)

Michael showed off his manliness up front; Kitana sang on "Hell-To-The-No;" Late Nite schooled us on maximizing your number of drinks during an open bar; Jav, sexily, displaying his MDLS T-shirt on stage, Ol' Girl always down for a ménage a foursome; Smokin' in the boys room...
We shared the stage with 2 other bands that we met and vibed with:

THIS TEMPER - a bad-ass, punk, brother duo (drums/singer; guitar) from Philly.
