It's that season once again that I like to call, "When the White Man came and took all our shit." And even though I'm not thankful for that, I still say: count your blessings.
And if there's someone you love, let'em know. NOW.

I find this somewhat offensive. Being a "white man" I've never owned a slave, or taken anyone's "shit". While I can understand the black mans animosity towards whites, are whites that had nothing to do with the past suffering of blacks forever to be lumped into the same catagory? Are you saying that all white men are the same? If I were to say that all black men were the same(which I know isn't true)would you find this offensive? I'm of Scottish decent. The English did horrible and unspeakable things to my people. I don't hold any of the modern day population of England responsible for the wrong doings of the past. It wouldn't be fair for me to do so...Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! With all due respect, the Monster simply said he calls Thanksgiving Day "the-day-the-white-man-came. . ." He didn't say every white man alive today is a racist! He didn't even say he hates white people!
ReplyDeletePointing out a fallacy in our history is not making slander to those in the present.
And to anyone else who is too myopic to see the overall meaning in Monster's statement of being thankful, I'll provide a watered down translation for you:
ReplyDelete"I do not wish to associate being thankful with a day with which my Caribbean ancestors were slaughtered. Instead, I wish to say if you are blessed to have someone in your life you love who loves you back, tell them! You are very blessed and should be thankful".
